Before getting married, we lived in my parents' basement for six months. By the end of that time, The Like Young, as a concept, really came to fruition. That's where most of ART CONTEST was written. In those six months, I wrote a lot of songs that didn't really fit into the straight-up, two-piece attack that we were going for. This song is the most interesting from that batch. It would be the last time I'd touch a piano until cannibalizing the riff for "The Hell With This Whole Affair" from LAST SECRETS three years later. And yes, it totally sounds like Weezer. Again. Surprise.
